Thanks for choosing HiTV: CarTV M3U Player (the “App” or “Software”) and related services (the “Service”) provided by Guangzhou Zhifeng Information Technology Co. LTD. (“we”, “our” or “us”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect information when you use HiTV: CarTV M3U Player, including its screen casting, compatible car display connection, and M3U/M3U8 playlist parsing and playback features.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party websites, applications, streaming providers, car systems, receivers or other services that you may access through the App. Their own privacy policies apply to their processing of your information.
BY ACCESSING, VIEWING OR USING THE APP OR SERVICE, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS PRIVACY POLICY. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH IT, PLEASE STOP USING THE APP AND SERVICE.
1. What information do we collect?
1.1 Information collected automatically
When you use the App or Service, we and our service providers may process limited technical information needed to operate, secure and improve the App. Depending on the features you use and the permissions you grant, this may include:
- device type, operating system and version, App version, language and region;
- IP address, network type, connection status and basic diagnostics;
- anonymous or pseudonymous identifiers used for analytics, crash reporting or subscription status; and
- information about App events, such as connection attempts, playback errors and feature interactions.
We do not use information collected through the App to identify you personally unless it is necessary for a support request, legal compliance or another purpose described in this Policy.
1.2 Information you provide
You may provide information when you use the App, contact us or use optional features. This may include:
- your email address, name and the contents of your request when you contact support;
- M3U or M3U8 playlist files, stream URLs, channel names and related metadata that you choose to import; and
- device or receiver names and connection details that you enter or select when connecting to a compatible display.
Playlist files, stream URLs and local connection information are designed to be processed and stored on your device for App functionality. We do not need to receive the content of your playlists to provide local playback or casting. If you voluntarily include such information in a support request, we will process it to respond to you.
1.3 Permissions
The App may request access to the local network, files or photos when a feature requires it, such as discovering a compatible display or importing a playlist. You can refuse or later revoke these permissions in your device settings. Refusing a permission may prevent the related feature from working, but does not prevent you from using unrelated features.
1.4 Purchase information
If you buy a subscription or other paid feature through Apple, we may receive transaction-related information such as the product purchased, subscription period, transaction status and renewal status. Apple processes your payment details. We do not receive or store your full credit-card number or other payment credentials. Please review Apple’s privacy policy for details about payment processing.
2. How do we use your information?
We use information described above to:
- provide, operate and maintain the App and Service;
- discover and connect to compatible displays when you request a connection;
- import, parse and play compatible M3U/M3U8 playlists and streams;
- process purchases, subscriptions, renewals and restoration requests;
- diagnose crashes, playback failures, connection problems and abuse;
- respond to support requests and communicate important service or policy changes;
- measure and improve App performance, reliability and user experience; and
- comply with applicable law, court orders and lawful governmental requests.
3. How do we share information with third parties?
We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited information in the following circumstances:
- Service providers. We may use providers for hosting, crash reporting, analytics, customer support, security and subscription verification. They may process information only to provide services to us and subject to appropriate contractual protections.
- Apple and payment providers. Apple processes App Store purchases and may provide us with transaction status needed to deliver paid features.
- Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information where required by law or reasonably necessary to prevent fraud, security incidents, abuse or harm, or to protect our rights, users or the public.
- Business transfers. Information may be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, financing or sale of all or part of our business, subject to applicable law.
- With your direction. We may share information when you ask us to do so or otherwise provide your consent.
4. Third-party content, links and streaming services
HiTV: CarTV M3U Player does not include a built-in channel directory, IPTV service, live-stream catalog or preloaded broadcast sources. The App only parses and plays M3U or M3U8 links and playlists that you choose to enter or import. We do not provide, host, sell, verify, endorse or control the streams referenced by those links. A stream provider may collect information directly from you, including your IP address, device information or account details. Please review the provider’s terms and privacy policy before accessing it. We do not use HiTV: CarTV M3U Player to bypass authentication, subscriptions, digital rights management or geographic restrictions.
5. How long do we retain information?
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, to provide the Service, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent abuse and meet legal, accounting or security requirements. Playlist data and connection details stored locally can generally be removed by deleting them within the App or uninstalling the App. Support correspondence may be retained for a reasonable period to address follow-up requests and legal obligations.
6. International data transfers
We and our service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers and respect rights provided by applicable data protection law. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you may contact us to ask about the safeguards applicable to your information.
7. How do we protect your information?
We use reasonable administrative, technical and organizational measures to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse or alteration. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your privacy rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to certain processing of your personal information, and to request a copy of information in a portable format. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise a right, contact us using the address below. We may need to verify your request and may retain information where the law allows or requires it.
You can control App permissions through your device settings and can manage subscriptions through your Apple ID settings. If you believe we have not handled a request properly, you may have the right to contact your local data protection authority.
9. Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, or the higher minimum age required by the law where you live. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the applicable minimum age. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so that we can take appropriate steps to delete it.
10. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the App, the Service, legal requirements or our practices. We will post the updated version here and revise the publication date. Your continued use of the App after an update means that you acknowledge the updated Policy to the extent permitted by law.
